#70 Running and juggling
For the past two weeks since edition #68, I’ve been incapable of following any of my daily habits, even baseline ones for health and well-being.
Clearly, this is a terrible base for productivity and decision-making, and amplifies the impact of emotions on decisions. Writing Plane Thoughts has felt hypocritical whilst the plane has been grounded.
But when turmoil abounds and our systems are shocked, we can gain new perspective, learn about ourselves and others, significantly strengthen relationships, and have breakthroughs.
During this period, I’ve worn out the cartilage in my knees and the clutch in my car from many hours on the move. It's led to many hours of self-reflection and a clarity of thought you just can’t get if you’re simultaneously running and juggling.
Life is not linear; it goes through cycles. Some cycles require you to run and juggle simultaneously. To avoid dropping a ball, you give your full attention to the act of juggling. What you think and feel about each ball can be difficult to process and communicate whilst you're running and juggling.
When you inevitably trip and fall and, in the emergency room, are told you can only hold one ball once recovered, the choice of ball is clear. It was always clear, but you were running and juggling.
Slow down.
Best, AJ.
