Embracing summer

Disconnecting for your well-being

Dear friends,

This is a quick post to let you know that I am taking a summer break from Plane Thoughts in August and will return to your inbox at the start of September.

The summer holiday I take each August in Spain is unlike any other holiday that I take and plays an essential part in my overall well-being over the course of the year.

I spend two weeks on a beach holiday with family and friends, wholly disconnected from financial markets, news and anything more cognitively taxing than choosing which combination of ice cream flavours to go for that evening. I also try to limit the use of all technology.

This time away where I am as close to being ‘in the moment’ helps me gain perspective on the important things, and the reflection time always leads to greater clarity on the more significant, longer-term problems I’m presently tackling.

After a very busy H1, I am looking forward to the trip, maybe even more so than any previous year, as I’ve felt hyper-connected on top of being very busy. The hope is to recharge fully and return re-energised with even more valuable insights and strategies to enhance your personal development and productivity.

The importance of taking a break

Just as nature thrives in its rhythm of cycles, so too must we honour our need for rejuvenation. After all, personal growth is not only about constant action but also about allowing ourselves time to recharge.

Disconnecting from our daily routines and immersing ourselves in the beauty of the present moment is essential for our mental, emotional, and physical well-being. During these moments of detachment, we gain clarity, find renewed inspiration, and cultivate a deeper connection with ourselves.

Remember, disconnection is not a sign of laziness or stagnation but an intentional act of self-care and self-discovery.

Wishing you a summer filled with joy, tranquillity, and meaningful moments.

Best, Alex Joshi.
