The 2022 recap

A summary of all posts this year

Good evening,

The holiday season is upon us. I think its extremely important to spend some time away from the daily routine to reset and reflect, so this is the final note of the year.

This is simply a thank you for joining me on the journey so far with Plane Thoughts, and a summary all the posts thus far for those wanting to catch up on past editions.

  1. Improving solo-decision making: Asking yourself questions twice as a strategy for improving accuracy of judgements when you can't get independent outside opinions

  2. The paradox of choice: Reducing the costs of making choices

  3. The post-mortem: Examining our failings to improve future decisions

  4. Keeping focused on the long term: A simple question to better visualise your future self and delay gratification

  5. Turning the best choice into the default choice: Using rules to eliminate willpower

  6. The importance of quiet time: Setting time aside to let your mind wander

  7. Overconfidence: Confidence is great, but don't let your guard down

  8. Cross-discipline learning: Looking outside our field can boost success inside of it

  9. Conducting an information audit: The importance of a good mental diet

  10. Building a second brain to organise our lives: Personal knowledge management to improve productivity

  11. Building habits around desired identity instead of desired outcomes

  12. Writing to achieve clear thinking: Good writing requires good thinking, and clear writing exposes poor thinking.

Have a wonderful festive season, and see you in 2023.

Best wishes,

Alex Joshi.
